Become an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of West Central MN! This year-long position (July 30, 2013-August 2, 2014) will collect and evaluate community needs and family services component to better serve our families and communities in the five-county service area. This is a great opportunity for someone just graduating from college who is looking for that "first job" to get a lot of great experience and build a resume.

Demonstrated communication skills/experience, both written and oral. Ability to listen reflectively and to produce well written documents, marketing materials, and communication materials. Public speaking experience helpful.
Knowledge of computer usage. Ability to utilize Internet, library, and community resources.
Self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities. Demonstrated time management experience. Ability to work independently.
Ability to work effectively as both a leader and member of a group. Experience developing consensus and setting direction.
Motivated to make a difference within the affiliate and the community.
Able to commit a full year of time, energy, talents, and ideas.
Flexibility of work schedule, including willingness to travel in five-county area.
Experience working with people from various socioeconomic groups and cultures a plus. Possess systemic understanding of factors contributing to poverty and awareness of cultural values. Experience and understanding of rural culture.
Preferred, although not required, college degree and experience in non-profit, research, community development, and/or public relations.
VISTA Benefits
*VISTA receives a living allowance of $946 per month
*Choice between an Education Award of $5,550 or $1,500 end‐of‐service cash stipend.
